My partner and I would like to update our cars. We would like to trade-in our 2 cars and get 2 Nissan Tiida's to replace them. One hatch and one sedan ..... 2009 model. Any suggestions for the best way to do this? Sell your existing cars privately, you will get thousands more for them than if you trade them in. Then you can start looking for your matching 2009 Tida's. I would also try to buy them privately if you can as any car dealer is just going to rip you off. Auto parts : Sun Visor Storage Acura 1995 . Scion . How to Get Rid of the Throw-up Smell in a CarThe stinky smell of vomit is one odor you don't want to have in your car. It's one of the most difficult stenches to remove because of the strong acids that go with it. When it clings to the car's fiber and upholstery, it seems impossible to eliminate the bad smell altogether. The odor appears to linger forever, especially if there's no air flow. Add to that exposure to hot temperatures and the foul smell intensifies. There are ways to eliminate the vomit's bad odor, however, so you can feel fresh and clean again when you drive your car. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Paper towels Gloves Ammonia Water Container Cloth Bucket Baking soda Vacuum cleaner Step by Step : 1 Pick up the solid vomit pieces using paper towels and disposable gloves. You can keep the smell from clinging further by keeping the car doors open so there's some air flow. 2 Mix equal parts of ammonia and warm water in a container. Dip a cloth into the ammonia solution, enough to absorb the mixture, and then just wring out the excess liquid. 3 Dab the vomit area with the cloth. Lightly scrub the spot until the stench is gone. Repeat the process by rinsing the cloth and dipping it into the ammonia mix. 4 Go over the vomit area once more by using hot water. Rinsing the spot with water removes smaller granules that have gone deep into the upholstery. Get a new cloth and dip it in a bucket of hot water and cleanse it as best as you can. 5 Let the carpeting air-dry. Make sure the liquid in the dabbed areas evaporates well by keeping the car doors open. You can also use a fresh cloth or a towel to absorb any excess moisture. 6 Repeat the process as necessary. Sometimes the vomit smell and stain cannot be removed in the first try. Dampen the smelly areas with the ammonia mix and leave it in the carpet for 15 minutes. Then scrub, rinse and dry it once more. 7 Sprinkle a thin film of baking soda over the vomited areas. Allow the baking soda to sit overnight. The baking soda will help absorb the smell of the vomit. Vacuum up the baking soda the next day. Tips & Warnings Do not mix ammonia with other detergents. This can create highly toxic fumes. Scion . How do I Get Rid of a Red Wine Smell in a Car?If you are like many other Americans, you probably spend a considerable amount in your car. For this reason, maintaining a clean car is important to the overall driving experience. While smelling wine might be appropriate at a wine tasting or fine restaurant, it is not something to be engaged in while driving. There are steps you can take to remove the odor of red wine from your car once and for all. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need 1 tbsp. ammonia Clean towel Car deodorizer in spray form Step by Step : 1 Locate the source of the foul odor and remove it promptly. In this case, if there is an old or unsealed bottle of red wine somewhere in your car, dispose of it right away. Remember to check the trunk if you have trouble locating it. 2 Clean any mess that the red wine left behind. If your carpet or upholstery is stained by the wine spill, start by blotting the area with a clean towel to soak up most of the wine. If the wine has already dried, you can mix 1 tbsp. of ammonia with 1 cup of water and pour the solution over the stain. Let it sit for five to 10 minutes, and then blot with a clean towel until the stain is removed. 3 Purchase a deodorizer for your car in the form of a spray. Keep in mind that air fresheners and deodorizers are not the same, although they may be used simultaneously. Spray either of these underneath the seats of your car and into the vents for freshness that will last. 4 Make a routine out of cleaning your car's carpet and upholstery after you initially get rid of the wine smell. By doing this, you'll be sure to notice and eliminate other odor-causing agents before they leave a lasting impression. The principles involved are fairly simple, and an automatic transmission does basically the same things, just without a manual clutch and with less manual shifting. What a manual transmission consists of This section takes a look at each major part of a manual transmission. I covered most of them in the drive train section earlier in this chapter. This section should put them into closer perspective. The gearshift The gearshift can be located on the steering column or on the floor in front of, or between, the front seat(s). Older cars designed for the general market used to have shifts with three forward speeds located on the steering column (very old cars had a two-foot gearshift located in front of the driver). Then sportier models with four forward speeds emerged. The gearshift in these cars was located on the floor, which gave rise to the term "four on the floor." Today, most vehicles with manual transmissions have floor shifts with five forward speeds. And some sports cars have standard gearboxes with six forward speeds. Scion . Usually the way you fill it up on other cars is through the dipstick hole, through which you check the level. you may need a... GMC Sonoma Club Cab. * The clutch You use the clutch when you start, stop, and shift gears. In each case, you step on the clutch pedal with your left foot to disengage the clutch disk from the flywheel so that the engine's crankshaft can turn independently of the transmission's input shaft. Otherwise, if you attempted to shift gears without using the clutch, the gears in the transmission would rotate at different speeds and would clash and break their teeth. The clutch consists of several major parts, each of which is listed here (refer to Figure 9-1 to see where these parts are). The section "Taking Care of Your Clutch" in Chapter 17 provides instructions for dealing with many of them. The clutch pedal is located on the floor of the car to the left of the brake pedal. The clutch pedal is connected to the clutch release lever via linkage. Sometimes a cable is used; most newer cars use hydraulic components. Chapter 9: Take the Drive Train: Understanding Transmissions... 17 3 0 The clutch disk, as you saw in the earlier drive train section, moves back and forth to connect and disconnect the engine from the transmission. The pressure plate releases its force and pulls away from the clutch disk when you depress the clutch pedal. 0 The throw-out bearing is linked to the clutch pedal and activates the release levers that move the pressure plate back and forth. After you have the engine going at its new speed (or going at all), you release the clutch pedal to bring the clutch disk into contact with the flywheel again. The friction material on the clutch disk causes them to grab each other lovingly and turn at the same rate once more. The gears The transmission contains the gears and responds to messages from the gearshift and the clutch. The gears are actually metal wheels with notches on the rims that allow them to mesh with one another (see Figure 9-4). Originally, the gears in most manual transmissions were moved into and out of mesh with each other by the gearshift lever. In modern vehicles, the gears are always in mesh and only the synchronizers move, causing a change in power flow. Scion . Should I transfer car title to daughter gift or buy?

An additional gear reverses the direction of power so that your car can move backward. This Reverse gear works in conjunction with the lowest gear. Because you must bring a vehicle to a stop before you back up and because you rarely want to hit high speeds in Reverse, the Low gear provides the power to overcome inertia and get the car moving again in the "wrong" direction. That's why your car usually moves backward fairly slowly but with a good deal of power. How a manual transmission u/orks Generally speaking, the faster your engine runs, the more power it puts out. If you need extra power to get your car up a hill — or to overcome inertia and just get that heavy monster moving in the first place — your engine must run faster than it runs simply to maintain speed after your vehicle is on the road. Low gears supply that power by making your wheels turn at a slower rate than your engine does. 174 Part II: What Makes It Go?
